“Can the G.x series coax equipment work on 50ohm and 75ohm coax cables? G.x solution equipment projects case 1: Ethernet + CATV

  A global CATV operator customers sharing their phone line projects details:
  “We have 17 units in a building with coax. We will need the master and slave equipment please.
And we have 50 units in a building with door phones (phone line). Can you please quote on both the single ethernet port and two ethernet port slaves?
  Note: no WiFi required we will use other CPEs for that.”

Solution and equipment needed:

  1. For 17users coax network, can use 1pc G.x-M204 4output coax master (as each output can connect max 16users), and G.x-S211 with 1 ethernet +1 CATV.
    In the coax salve, you can keep the CATV port free , if you don’t need it.
  2. For 50users phone line network, can use 2pcs 24ouput G.x-M124 (each output connect to one user) and G.x-S111 with 1 ethernet port.

Question (Q): How would I handle say a hotel floor with 17 or more terminal on a single coax?

Answer (A):
  Each output port in master can connect 16terminals, if you have 17 or more, you can use two or more output ports in master.

  Coax master output port –>1:16 splitter–> coax slave.

Q: Can the coax equipment work on 50ohm and 75ohm coax cables? What would the difference in performance be between them of at all?
A: Our equipment is 75ohm, so if cable is 75ohm, the performance is best. If you use 50ohm, performance is not so good.

Q: Also is it possible to provide the G.x series equipment unbranded?
A: If the master Qty>10pcs, slave >200pcs, we can make it unbrand.

  “We will primarily be coax for the installs. I do need some clarification on the amount of slaves and how it is calculated for each unit. The FOT M204 has 4 outputs and each output can support up to how many slaves?”

  • G.hn/RF Out put 1 > Slaves 1-8, 1-16, 1-32,1-64
  • G.hn/RF Out put 2> Slaves 1-8, 1-16, 1-32,1-64
  • G.hn/RF Out put 3> Slaves 1-8, 1-16, 1-32,1-64

  I see in the diagram there is a NMS do you have network management software for the devices? or does this just indicate this is the network management port?

Solution and equipment needed:

  • 1) Each output port in master can connect max 16pcs slave.
  • 2) It’s managememt port, snmp management. FOT offering simple, easy-used web management configuration system.

Q: What is the impact to the throughput for the user device?
A: Each output in master throughtput is about 700M, if you connect less users, then each user could have more throughput.

Q: What is the Maximum I can combine on a single coax before performance is impacted?
A: Max 16pcs slave each output port/ each single coax.
Q: How are the slaves linked to the output if multiple outputs are combined on the same coax?
A: Generally, we use splitter to splitter 1 outputs for several slave, never use combiner.
