IPTV Service Provision
Internet Protocol television (IPTV) is a system through which television services are delivered using the Internet protocol suite over a packet-switched network such as the Internet, instead of being delivered through traditional terrestrial, satellite signal, and cable television formats. IPTV service providers would usually combine it with internet and IP telephone to make it the so called Triple Play.
FOT Blog today try to show an example of configuring IPTV (Internet Protocol television) service with IPTV server through GPON OMCI (Operation Management Communication Interface), or we can say, by GPON GUI (Graphical User Interface).Let’s consider the service model below as an example.
As shown in Figure 1, FOT GOLT1008 NNI port #2 connects to IPTV server and uses S-VLAN=1102 to provide IPTV service at UNI #2 of each ONT.
Provision IPTV in FOT GPON
Briefly speaking, 6 steps illustrated below to establish the IPTV service in FOT GPON application:
1. Define S-VLAN
GUI navigation link path: >GPON>S-VLAN
VLAN Type: N: 1 Residential
NNI(uplink) Tagging: Single Tagged
IGMP Enable: Yes
GPON OLT: 1
2. Add an IPTV service.
GUI navigation link path: >GPON>Service-Profiles>IPTV
Select a specified ONT.
Choose S-VLAN: 1102.
Specify Upstream BW profile: 2.(bw profile selected by the operator)
3. Add Service to the UNI-ETH.
GUI navigation link path: >GPON>Service-Profiles s>UNI-ETH
Create the index: 1
Assign UNI port number: 2.
Assign C-VLAN: 1102.
Choose UNI mode: Untagged.
4. Enable IGMP snooping function.
GUI navigation link path: >Configuration>Global
Check the box “Snooping Enabled” as below.
5. Configure NNI
After finishing all the settings for ONT UNI / S-VLAN / Profile, the network administrator still has to configure speed for uplink ports, and the default setting is disable.

Port: 2 >AutoNeg
6. Assign ONT Service
GUI navigation link path: >GPON>ONT>Service
1. Select the OLT: 1
2. Select the ONT ID: 1-1
3. Assign the service profile
index 1: IPTV-1 , iptv 1
index 2: ETH-1 , eth 1
Finally, if there is no alarm happened, IPTV service succeed to run.
